Quick update on K. Thursday we went for labs thinking she would need blood. Labs came back and I asked the PA, are you sure those are K’s? He looked at them and said well the white count is around the right number…. So we went in for counts again today. These numbers made much more sense. Thankfully her hemoglobin and platelets have come up some. She needed neupogen again today. Her kidney numbers went back up which really stinks because she is getting a liter of IV fluids everyday. I guess we will see where it is on Monday. Thank you all so much for all of your support and prayers. We would not be here without them.
Last night there was a commercial for Make A Wish and Kimbell says “I got my one true wish, I really got it.” I looked at her totally confused and then felt like an idiot. Her wish was her bone marrow transplant. Today I was talking to Dr. Tolar’s nurse and yes they are planning on us going home on the 11th!!! John and I asked a bunch of questions about what she can and cannot do and for how long. All in all it will be 18-24 months from time of transplant for her to be a fully operational normal kid. I had tears in my eyes and she said oh my gosh you are crying. Yes, because Kimbell was never supposed to make it this far. She was never supposed to see her 10th birthday much less we were told that if she survived all the chemo her odds were not that good. So here we are, still not out of the woods BUT almost 90 days post transplant and she is doing amazingly well. Better then we could have ever hoped or wished for. I don’t know what God’s plans are for this little girl of ours but they must be big. Or we just have so many prayer warriors out there that God said ok ok 🙂 I think it is both. So to all of you thank you from the very bottom of our hearts for everything you have all done for us.
Another huge thank you to Accenture, that is who John works for. I know there are some Accenture lurkers out there 🙂 Honestly, our family could not have been blessed with John working for a better company. The generosity and support show to our family through this journey has been nothing short of miracle. It was so completely unexpected and has truly lowered our stress. I don’t know how we would have done it if John could not have been here with us.
For those of you that have sent cards, drawings, gifts, texts, e-mails and posted on her site – Kimbell has truly appreciated every last one. For a kid those make all the difference in the world. They are something tangible that she has been able to go back to so that she can see how much she is loved, prayed for and cared about. Truly priceless.
Kimbell is part of Battle for a Cure. It is a wonderful non-profit that helps fund research and have a hope box program. They have an amazing following on facebook where they share the kids stories. Let me tell you how many prayer warriors there are. Since K’s story isn’t on FB they copy her updates and thousands of people have read her updates and are praying for her. We wanted to be a part of this program because we all know nothing is more powerful than prayer. Check them out on facebook, they are truly amazing and they are supporting so many courageous kids. For those of us following K through Battle for a Cure, K’s website is www.kimbellstevenson.com
SCS and all of our friends from SCS you are such a blessing to us. We can’t wait to get home and thank all of you in person.
Last but not least Mom and Dad your presence for the last 8 months between fixing the house and being in MN since June has meant the world to us. Even if we don’t see you every day there is nothing better than having your parents with you and knowing they are down the street. Knowing that there is always someone to catch you when you fall and be there no matter what.
Many prayers to all of you, thank you for everything.

Can’t wait for you to get back to Texas! We’ll see you someday, though, for Kimbell’s wedding, in, say, 2045? 🙂 She is a special little lady and she has special parents to match.
So excited for you all! I know you all will be happy to get home. When the last item gets here on Tuesday, I will get her packaged mailed. God is good, all the time!!! Give Kimbell a big hug for me.
This posting brought me to tears! So happy for you guys! Prayer everything keeps getting better! Bill also has a wonderful company he works for. They helped us out a lot and made our lives stress free also. Thank goodness there are still companies that care about the people who work for them.
Oh my gosh, it is so great to hear that you can see the light at the end of the tunnel and this almost relentless journey approaching the final station. I so hope it gets here quickly and you can spend the rest of your days taking care of the mundane and joyful tasks of real life! My love to you all…god speed :0)
