Good evening and thank you all for the emails, texts, calls, prayers, posts, on and on… I think Paige and I will be thanking all of you for years to come for all you continue to do for us. We’re truly blessed to have friends and family like all of you. 🙂
Now for the good stuff… Paige and I spent a lot of time this morning switching off/on with Kimbell. One talking to the doc while the other helped Kimbell cope with the misery. By late morning we had a new plan for pain control and put it into action. One of Kimbell’s good friends from Texas was in Minneapolis and stopped by to see her early afternoon. (Thank you so much B. and & A… You know who you are!) By that time Kimbell’s new med plan was well into her system and she was coming out of the pain episodes. Thankfully the plan worked well and Kimbell was alert for about 5 hours this afternoon!!!! She ate a few popsicles and even 1/2 bowl of cereal. Finally, I knew she was starting to get the pain under control when she said “Dad, order Papa Johns!!!” haha! Such a cute kido- We did get Papa Johns and in true Kimbell fashion she “ate it”… Her version of eating right now is (this may sound gross) take a bite of it, chew the heck out of it then spit it back out!!!! She gets all the flavor without the pain of swallowing the food. cracks me up. 🙂 She’s always figuring out a way around the system… love it!
Kimbell got sick of her hair itching this morning and had Paige trim it to about a two inches long… what’s left of it. She’s about 90+% bald and with it only being about two inches now it looks really thin. Again, I’m not allowed to take or post pics of her now that she’s losing a lot of hair… need to keep that girly image. 🙂 I did take some pictures earlier while Paige was cutting the hair and Kimbell got ticked at me!! I told her the pics were for her only and she could look back and see all the crap she went through. She agreed…
Forgot to tell you a funny story when I posted earlier that Kimbell won’t laugh or smile. Well, now she’s actually 1/2 cracking a smile that the pain meds are kicking in, but anyway the story is that yesterday Kimbell’s hair was coming out BIG TIME. When this started she said “hey, lets collect all of the hair, put it in a bag with some glue and give it to Epa!!!” hahahaha! It was soooo funny. Epa is Paige’s Dad.. Kimbell’s grandpa that’s bald on top. 🙂 She’s a jokester… Kimbell did give him the hair and glue in a baggy last evening when he came to visit. We all got a good laugh over it which made Kimbell’s day too. 🙂 It’s sooooo nice and refreshing to see her smile and laugh!! Fortunately Paige’s parents are jokesters and are always in good humor. They’ve also been absolutely wonderful though this process! They came up during Kimbell’s workup a few weeks ago and are staying about 30-45 min away in an RV park. Furthermore, they’ve been taking care of all of the dogs (4 now!!) in the motorhome and always call before the daily visit to see if we want/need anything. We couldn’t do this without you B & J. Thank you both so much for all you continue to do for us.
To Kimbell’s Friend A & Her Dad B: Thank you both so much for stopping by today. Kimbell has been extra excited to see you and was thrilled all afternoon while you were here. She loved playing the hospital bingo and after you left she told me over and over how much she appreciated you (A) just laying in bed chilling with her. Thank you for making a little girls day! 🙂
If you’re wondering about the letter abbreviations for names. We try to be respectful when posting people’s information on the web. If you are wondering who a person is and can’t figure it out from the context email me and I’ll fill ya in. 😉
Have a great evening everyone. Thank you for following Kimbell and being there for all of us.
