Day +8 …the downhill slide continues
Kimbell has been steadily declining over the last few days, specifically the last 24 hours. The mucositis has gotten so bad that she can’t hardly talk, won’t eat, can’t swallow, etc. She’s now on TPN (IV food), a pain drip with bolus bumps every 10-20 minutes, and a host of other medications. The pain meds keep having to be increased more and more to keep her somewhat comfortable. This morning she woke in massive pain and began to vomit due to the pain. She hasn’t gotten out of bed the last two days other than to quickly go potty and thankfully sleeps as much as she can.
We just spoke to the docs in rounds and they are going to change up the pain meds and a few other ‘tricks’ to see if they can get Kimbell more comfortable. Yesterday she had three platelet transfusions due to uncontrollable nose bleeds.
I’m not allowed to post anymore pics of her since she’s lost over 70% of her hair. We suspect the remaining 30% will come out over the next few days since it’s been falling out in massive clumps. Even though Kimbell expected to loose her hair it has taken a massive toll on her ego. We have tried time and time again to reassure her that the hair will quickly grow back and this is only a one shot deal to get well… blah blah blah… she knows, but it still hurts…
Lastly, all of you know Kimbell. She’s constantly laughing, joking and loving. She’s gotten to the point where she won’t smile or laugh and has said things like “I can’t live like this” several times over the last 24 hours. Please pray for a speedy recovery and strength for Kimbell to get through this. There are sunny days ahead, we all know that, but right now it’s quite miserable for her.

My heart bleeds for you , poor baby , but girl your lovely hair will come back , all new and beautiful, nicer than it ever was before , have have sweety , we are praying for you and your mom and dad

Also…I have a friend who has lost all her hair to C and she is wearing scarves and a nice looking wig…finally after several weeks her hair has started to grow back. Your’s will to Kimbell. My heart hurts for you Kimbell. Your hair may fall out but, your go get em spirit won’t leave! Sweet girl, I love your spunky personality and your vivacious spirit!!! Your wig will look so natural no one will tell the difference. Give all your worries and pain to God sweet K and he will see you through this. I’ve had families emailing me and wanting updates, because they are praying for your strength. Piper can’t wait to meet you when you’re back in Fort Worth. 🙂

Today may seem unbearable, but it will pay off in the end. Take each obstacle as it comes. One day/hour/minute at a time. Never lose hope, sweet Kimbell. Close your eyes and think of something wonderful and beautiful and remember there is always a light at the end of the tunnel. Soon you will be over this hump and looking over your shoulder at this journey as just a memory. Hair is just hair. It will likely grow back even more beautiful than it was before!! You’re gorgeous either way! Angels are by your side, always. Praying today for healing and inner strength for you. <3

Sweet girl! My heart is hurting for you! I am thinking if you daily! Take one day, hour, minute at a time. Try to think ahead to all the wonderful things you will be able to do. Continue to lift it all up to God. He is with you. I know you are upset about your hair but you so beautiful! It will grow back quickly! I am praying for you!!!!!!!❤️❤️❤️
