Day +40!

Day +40!

We have made it 40 days post transplant! So exciting.  Kimbell told us she feels better then she has ever felt in her entire life.  Kind of sad really that this is the best she has ever felt given she is puking everyday, on a zillion pills, dependent on blood products, gcsf, GI problems, and her kidneys are not happy again…..  So other then the usual daily/nightly issues of projectile vomiting, spending hours at the laudromat courtesy of the projectile vomiting, carpet cleaning in the room (again courtesy of the puking) she had a great weekend!  Her and John went fishing and exploring while I slept and did all the household stuff you think will disappear when you aren’t home 🙂

On Friday Kimbell met with her doctor.  She had been trying to track him down for a couple of days so he decided he could come over to the hospital to chat.  Have I mentioned how much we love this man?  He is brilliant, world-renowned, you name it but most of all he loves Kimbell.  In the four years she has been seeing him she has probably said a grand total of 5 sentences to him.  On Friday they talked nonstop in the lobby for 25 minutes!! I don’t know who was more shocked him, or us 🙂  We are so incredibly blessed to have a specialist (who isn’t a friend in the outside world) who makes time outside of clinic for his patients!

Day 40 – We went to clinic and waited and waited and waited, did I mention we waited? Not sure what is up with the lab these days but seriously it is taking way too long.  Finally her labs came back and her wbc is back in somewhat normal range well for a post BMT patient normal.  So now the awful couple of days were a virus. hmmmm  Her creatinine is up a lot 🙁 darn kidneys.  So tonight and apparently through Thursday she will be getting IV fluids at home.  Beats the hospital!!  Unfortunately tomorrow we go back again because her labs aren’t so great.  This is normal they were just hoping we would be able to not go everyday because she was doing so well prior to discharge.   It was also the first day back at SCS.  I honestly didn’t think it would be so hard to see everyone going back to school and so excited but it was.  I know we are where we need to be for what is best for our family but it certainly doesn’t make it any easier not to be at our home, our school, our friends, or our jobs.  I pray Kimbell continues to exceed everyone’s expectations so we can get to a new normal at home sooner than later and to the point where we are all complaining about homework again 🙂

Prayer request 🙂 Kimbell really wants her line out and she has to consume more fluids for them to consider it… Please pray she can do this.  Also it looks like her line is infected yet again.  Please pray that it heals or if they decide to pull it that they don’t put in another one.  AND… my best friend and her family could really use prayers right now so if you can just pray for Donna and Nanna we would appreciate it.

Last but not least, if anyone knows anything about Disney Infinity can you please ping me? K has decided this is a must have for her birthday and I am totally overwhelmed with all the “stuff” that goes with it.  Whatever happened to pacman and the Atari????
