Kimbell is doing well again today, up and at ’em!! She’s awake, looking great and wanting to be active. That’s awesome news!!!
On the flip side, the doctor just stopped by and let us know that Kimbell has a bacterial blood infection. Yikes!!!!!! These are the things that can make you septic quickly and get reallyyyyyyy nasty. The positive side to this is that Vanco, a VERY high power antibiotic was started on Saturday as Kimbell has been adamant that her new hickman line is (and has been) very sore to the touch. GO KIMBELL for identifying the problem early!! So… the doctors are drawing more blood cultures today, starting new meds to fight off the infection and will monitor her closely. Please say prayers that things go well and she heals quickly! With Kimbell having nearly zero immune system this could get interesting… The nurse is hanging the first bag of blood right now for a blood transfusion. The last dose of chemo just finished! YAY!!! All done with chemo now!
More to come as things unfold. Thanks again to everyone for all of your support, thoughts and prayers. Kimbell has received a few gifts that were sent to us at the hotel. You wouldn’t believe how much those kinds of things perk her up. Yesterday she got a couple of minion items from dear friends. Kimbell was sooooooo thrilled she fell asleep with them in her arms… 🙂 Thank you so much for making her smile. It means the world to us!!
Kimbell also got a visit from one of her best friends yesterday. (Words cannot express how truly amazing this family is, by the way! Absolutely amazing.) Anyway, Kimbell and her friends played hard for a few hours… so thankful for these kinds of moments and the kind hearted friends. This morning when we woke I raised the blinds to find a message written quite large across the windows: “I can do all things through Christ the Lord. I can be anything.” Reading it instantly brought tears to my eyes… Kimbell and her friends have so much respect, love and faith. It’s quite inspiring to see them muster up strength from little things like this. 🙂

Kimbell – We are so excited for you and pray tomorrow’s BMT goes really well for you. You’re so brave – there’s no way I could even come anywhere near as close.
Did I tell you about my visit to Dr. Sadeghi a couple months ago to get migraine shots? Sadeghi was giving me shots in various points along my neck and head to help with this terrible migraine I had. Well, about half way through I said “oh no, I’m going to pass out! The room is going dark – I’m dizzy, I think I’m going to be sick!!!” So, he had me lay down for a few minutes and when Sadeghi came back he teased me for being a needle-wimp. The sad thing is, I think he’s right!
Today on our flight out to Portland, Zoey looked out the window and said she wished you were with us and that you and she were flying on the wing outside the airplane! Could you imagine what a wild ride that would be?!?
Uncle Dan says he is going to pump Zoey full of sugar over the next few days….Aye yai yai – she’s already the energizer bunny on steroids…as if she needs any sugar!
We love you!! Zoey says she LOVES you bunches. She drew you a picture today of a cherry tree that she’ll be picking cherries from this week.
PS – Let Epa know Zoey says he’s a CRAZY driver!!
K- my kids and I are thinking of you daily!!! Love you! Make sure you let me know if those nurses aren’t taking good care of you- I will be by your side in a heartbeat!!!!!
