It’s amazing how things can change so quickly. I’m not sure any of us ever thought we would be blessed with seeing Kimbell turn 11. Every birthday has always been so special because every year was faced with the odds stacked against her. This birthday was especially emotional. Last year on her birthday she had three different bacteria in her blood stream, any of which should have taken her life but once again God intervened and she came through. This year John and I have a healthy hyper crazy grateful 11 year old on our hands. Free of pain, most meds, no central lines for the first birthday in 9 years, and the first birthday in three years out of the hospital!!! Needless to say we celebrated and celebrated. We actually convinced K we were going to Chicago with John on a business trip so at the crack of dawn on her birthday we went to the airport. We get to the gate and she says “Mom you went to the wrong gate, this is going to Orlando not Chicago.” John and I probably looked like fools we had such big grins on our face at which point she started jumping up and down. Even better John managed to steal away from work for a bit so we got to see him. We got to see our dear friend who couldn’t believe how great K looked, and you looked amazing too S! Ken spoiled K rotten, thank you 🙂 and we got to spend a few days at our home away from home 🙂
The icing on the cake to her birthday was……. The donor released her information!!!! Well her name and email. Remember it took me a month to write the anonymous letter…. So I get the email from MN, I can’t move I’m in shock and K is jumping up and down going crazy. K’s dream is to meet her donor and she is so scared she won’t like her. Anyhow I want to email but again what do you say to someone who has given the most priceless gift to your family? So what do I do??? I stole a move from my dear friend Jennifer L. (I hope you are reading this!!) and look for her on Facebook! She is beautiful and looks like she is a lot of fun and full of life but still I don’t know what to say. This morning I get on Facebook to see if anyone has RSVP’d and it turns out little Miss Kimbell sent her a friend request on Facebook! So needless to say I will be emailing her today. We are so blessed that God brought her into our lives and are so grateful she was willing to be open to being contacted by us!
Last but not least, Kimbell’s party is on Saturday! Please please let us know if you are coming! We can’t wait to see everyone. You won’t even recognize K she looks so amazing.
